Conductive Keratoplasty (CK)

Conductive keratoplasty is a relatively new therapy for hyperopia (farsightedness) and presbyopia (loss of near vision with age). Low-level heat from a radiofrequency probe is used to shrink collagen found in the periphery of the cornea. The resulting change in corneal shape improves near vision. Sometimes, in a type of vision correction called monovision, only one eye is treated to provide near vision, while the other eye is left untreated to preserve distance vision. This enables good vision at a range of near to far distances. Monovision is not for everyone, but many find it to be a satisfying solution for their vision needs.
